How to Complete
Read and log a total of six hours between December 3 and January 4.
Prizes
When you complete the challenge, please visit your local Tacoma Public Library branch to pick up your completion prize. Raffle drawings for additional prizes will be held after the challenge dates. Raffle prize winners will be notified by January 11.
Winter Reading Challenge Frequently Asked Questions
If I use a paper reading log, do I still need to use Beanstack?
If you use a paper reading log, staff will create an "offline reader" account for you when you complete the challenge. This enables you to be entered into raffle prize drawings, and helps the library keep track of participation statistics.
I don’t have a Smartphone, tablet, computer, or internet access. How can I participate?
The library has public computers that you can use for all your Beanstack needs. Staff are available to assist you. You may also choose to use a paper reading log.
Do I need a library card to participate?
No, a Tacoma Public Library card is not required to participate. However, having a library card can help you access even more wonderful books to read for this challenge.
When is the last day to pick up prizes?
Please pick up prizes by the end of the day on January 4, 2025.
How old does my child have to be to participate?
This program is for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Younger children may participate in the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, opens a new window, while teens and adults ages 13+ may participate in the Extreme Reader Challenge, opens a new window. All ages are eligible to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge.
