Science and Math Institute (SAMI), opens a new window Librarian Indie Berg was determined that her students understand and enjoy the benefits of a library. How? You might ask? Why by packing them all up, and visiting Tacoma Public Library!
Since SAMI does not have its own library her goal was that every SAMI student visit Tacoma Public Library. Indie succeeded with 8 visits numbering between 25-55 students at each. There they had a tour of whatever facility they visited, checked out a book and were introduced to Tacoma Public Library’s online services by Teen Services Librarian Sara Sunshine Holloway.
Next year Sara and Indie hope to expand!
