The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival returns to Tacoma this 2017-2018, and we are thrilled!
Last year’s film festival was so successful we felt it was time to move to a bigger venue. This year, local submissions will be shown at the Blue Mouse Theater! WOW!
Big thanks to the Blue Mouse Theater for donating the space.
What is the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival exactly?
The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kids and teens create movies that tell the entire stories of a Newbery-winning (or honor) book in 90 seconds or a little bit longer. Parents and educators can help. In fact, they are encouraged to!
Tacoma Public Library has hosted a local edition of the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival for five years and counting.
Read. Create. Be a STAR!
The best Tacoma films will be shown at a public screening party at the Blue Mouse Theatre complete with a live Oscar style stage show, awards, and popcorn!
Selected films travel to Chicago, New York, and beyond. Every year Tacoma has submissions screened all over the country, and there are 3 films from Tacoma on the “Best Videos” section of the 90-Second Newbery webpage, opens a new window.
