What's going on at Main Library?
An update from July 26, 2024
We thank the community for its patience and understanding as our flagship location has been closed for a significant amount of work. Like many other large construction projects, Main’s has had its fair share of supply chain delays and labor shortage impacts, as well as a few surprise items crop up that added time to the project.
As construction inside the building has progressed, and we now see the vision for Main Library taking shape, we want to share our excitement and hope for an opening this fall, likely in October.
We are so eager to share the new spaces with you, but we can’t do that until the work is finished. We appreciate the community’s patience as the final pieces come together. We will be publishing a re-opening date once we are certain of the timing.
We are looking forward to a grand re-opening event highlighting all of the new features of Main Library: Maker Labs (the newly named Wonder Lab, the Digital Media Lab, and the Memory Lab), new teen and children’s spaces, a “living room” reading area for reading and co-working, additional restrooms, meeting rooms, and a second floor that will host community organizations who will also be offering programs and events. All this and much more will be part of the newly reimagined Main Library. Please stay tuned for updates and know we are building something amazing.
