A new traveling exhibit will be on view at various local community spaces beginning in September. "The Unsilenced Stories of Tacoma" draws upon the collections of the Northwest Room and the Community Archives Center to highlight local stories that have been under-represented or under-investigated. Displayed across a series of five banners, the exhibit highlights stories about Hilltop, Salishan, Puyallup Tribal Elder Ramona Bennett, community activist Reverend Robert Penton, and more. The exhibit also draws upon some of the new oral histories gathered by the Community Archives Center project over the last two years. The exhibit was designed by local graphic designer Paulo Chikoti-Bandua. It will be on display between September 2023 and May 2024. See the exhibit schedule below:
