Main Library has been undergoing a transformation to reimagine the way we deliver services to meet the needs and interests of Tacomans. Part of this reimagining includes the Community Hub, a dedicated space on our second floor that will host an ecosystem of local partners whose work aligns with the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Tacoma Public Library. Our goal is for the second floor to be a vibrant and active space for community learning and gathering.
In 2020, we announced Tacoma Tool Library and Write253 as the inaugural partners for The Community Hub. We are pleased to share that Remakery Tacoma and Toolbox Learning Laboratories will also be joining The Community Hub when Main Library reopens.

Primarily this is done through workshops, classes and pop-up events where the public can create with existing materials. Events have included sewing, fiber arts, paper arts, plastic recycling, and using natural materials for creating.
Tacoma Tool Library
Tacoma Tool Library improves quality of life in the South Sound by providing tools, education, space, and support to cultivate self-sufficiency while reducing waste. Tacoma Tool Library promotes environmental sustainability through shared resources and promotes a sustainable community by maintaining a place for people to learn and engage each other in improvement projects. It creates a community network that promotes sharing and mutual support.
TheToolbox Learning Laboratories
Toolbox Learning Laboratories provides space, tools, materials, teaching artists, and inspiration for community to create, explore and grow. Activities and classes are centered in the goal of creating access for all who want to engage science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) with an added emphasis on emotional intelligence and cultural identity.
Write253
Write253 is a literary arts and printmaking organization whose mission is to provide meaningful and transformative writing, publishing, and artistic opportunities that cross boundaries and create community for teens and young adults in greater Tacoma.
