For Edna (Mrs. Rutherford) Barnett - Priceless handmade lace is hobby. Mrs. Barnett is a member of the National Old Lacers, women who study and collect rare laces. She is pictured above in October of 1964 with a Spanish Blonde mantilla and Venetian cape collar. On her left is an Irish Limerick lace overskirt draped over the pre-Victorian canterbury. Mrs. Barnett's lace collection began about four years before and now includes mother-of-pearl fans, ruffles, boleros, mantillas, shawls, handkerchiefs and an ecru lace wedding dress. She especially prizes a pair of real Alencon lace lappets of the King Louis XV period.
