Freedom to Read Week, also known as Banned Books Week, recognizes the value of intellectual freedom to a healthy democracy, and uplifts public libraries' role in fighting book bans and censorship.
In 2023, Freedom to Read Week is celebrated October 1-7. Celebrate by attending programs at your libraries: Screen Printing, a Challenged Comics Discussion, Trivia Night, Bingo, and Family Storytime!
Freedom to Read Week will also be recognized by a Proclamation at the Tuesday, Oct. 3 City Council meeting. Wear your library gear and attend the meeting to show your support!
