Explore Black history in Tacoma with the Northwest Room'sThe Northwest Room has held Tacoma's archives for decades, and local historians and citizens alike have utilized its resources to piece together narratives from our region's past. However, these narratives have not represented all of Tacoma's communities. The Northwest Room today is working to remedy this through the work of its Community Archives Center, which partners with the community to preserve and provide access to stories that are missing from Tacoma's local history narrative.
You can contribute stories, records, documents, and photos to the Community Archives Center at an upcoming event. I hope you will consider adding your narrative to create an archive that represents all of Tacoma.
Thank you for your support,
