Among the hubbub of the year’s end, we are reflecting on the challenges and successes of the past year at Tacoma Public Library. As I look back, I'm reflecting upon the hurdles that held vital learning experiences, as well as our many accomplishments.
2022 started with the Omicron virus in full swing. Working with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, throughout this year we distributed more than 50,000 COVID testing kits from our libraries to help keep our communities safe. This required an incredible amount of work from our staff, and as always, I am proud of their teamwork and dedication to our patrons.
Another highlight of the year was completing our Feasibility Study for Hilltop and Eastside Library Services. Please take a look at the final report to see the recommendations for moving ahead with this important project to restore library services in both neighborhoods.
We've also made progress on facility upgrades to the Main Library. I'm excited to share upcoming opportunities for our community to give input and feedback on interior features of our reimagined downtown location. Look for those opportunities soon in the new year.
Tacoma Public Library is proud to serve Tacoma and we are grateful for your ongoing support as we continue to grow our services, collection, and programs in 2023 and beyond.
Happy holidays and a Happy New Year!
